Rosalie Uyola is a Ph.D. student in the Rutgers-Newark Graduate Program of American Studies.  Her research explores links between memory, history, and commemoration in the city of Newark.  Rosie’s dissertation is an oral history project that examines the turbulent times during the Newark Rebellion of 1967, issues of race and housing, and Black and Puerto Rican student activism.

The Newark-Essex Foreclosure Task Force formed in November of 2007 in response to the steep rise in foreclosures in the City of Newark and urban Essex County communities related to the sub-prime mortgage subsequent market's collapse.
